2023 looks like it could be a bountiful year for video games and gamers of all kinds. So let’s take a look at some of the biggest and best games releasing in 2023.
Many of these games were set to release in 2022 and have been delayed, but there are also plenty of new games coming to our consoles and PCs during 2023.
If you are wondering what 2023 has in store for you in terms of video games, then you have come to the right place. Here are 10 games we can’t wait to play in 2023.
1. Hogwarts Legacy
Harry Potter fans, hold on to your wallets, as Hogwarts Legacy is set to release on February 10, 2023. The Harry Potter franchise has seen many video games during its long reign. But Hogwarts Legacy looks like it will raise the bar exponentially.
Hogwarts Legacy is an Action RPG from Portkey Games. But unlike most Harry Potter games, this time around the legend herself won’t be the star of the show.
You. Hogwarts Legacy is an open world title that lets you design your own adventure. You are completely free to live out your Harry Potter fantasies in Hogwarts Legacy.
2. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Of all the games releasing in 2023, there is one that immediately springs to mind for many gamers. That, of course, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
It took home the award for most anticipated game of 2022 at The Game Awards, and rightfully so.
It is the sequel to the beloved launch title for Nintendo Switch, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. And gamers have been waiting with bated breath for five years for the continuation of Link’s story.
This epic open-world RPG would definitely have been one of the best Nintendo Switch games of 2022 had it not been delayed, but we can’t wait to get our hands on it on May 12th, 2023.
3. Redfall
2022 was a great year to be a gamer. Unless, of course, you were hanging on for an Xbox-exclusive title to add to your collection. Xbox had grand plans for early 2022. But, unfortunately, none of them really panned out and Redfall was one of 2022’s victims.
It’s not all bad news though, as 2023 is fast approaching, and the wait is almost over. Xbox gamers can look forward to slaying some vampires in a first-person shooter coming in 2023.
4. Starfield
Redfall was a disappointing loss for Xbox gamers in 2022, but the highest-profile delay of the year was probably Starfield. Starfield is an upcoming action RPG from Bethesda Softworks that will give The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom a run for its money in the battle for the most anticipated title of 2023.
Starfield suffered a similar fate to Redfall in 2022, and its original release date of November 11 has been delayed to sometime in 2023.
5. Attach fire emblem
Fire Emblem is one of Nintendo’s most successful franchises, and fans haven’t seen a new mainline entry in the series since 2019’s Fire Emblem: Three Houses. Fire Emblem Engage is a Nintendo Switch exclusive that will be released on January 20, 2023.
The Fire Emblem franchise is well known for its solid tactical RPGs. Tactical RPGs offer a more strategic approach to turn-based combat where you can move your characters around the battlefield like pawns.
They first became popular in the West with games like Final Fantasy Tactics and have since become an incredibly popular genre in gaming. If you’re considering that there are still many good reasons to buy a Nintendo Switch in 2023, this is one of them.
6. Sea of Stars
Big-budget AAA titles are usually heavily advertised and drum up a lot of interest and anticipation leading up to their release. But indie games can be just as much if not more fun than big budget titles. And Sea of Stars is the perfect example of this.
Sea of Stars is a turn-based RPG with a beautiful pixel art style that will speak straight to the nostalgic pits of any long time gamer’s heart. Sea of Stars was originally supposed to be released in 2022, but sadly found its way into the club delayed until 2023 as well.
7. Forspoken
Almost anything Square Enix touches turns to gold, and it looks like this will be no exception. This action RPG looks like it will feature some of the most epic, fast-paced combat that gamers can expect from 2023.
It also looks like the plot will be incredibly unique, which is a refreshing change of pace in a market full of games. Forspoken will be released on PlayStation 5 and Windows on January 24, 2023.
